Description:
is an experimental composition created by employing different techniques and marrying them into a cohesive harmonic whole. The painting is a personification of life itself. Life is a testing journey where one has to summon up courage and cross many deep crevasses. The path is not always easy with the passage fraught with challenges. The bridge signifies this path. It appears worn out and shaky like the path of life. The bridge goes form a lower cliff to a higher cliff in semblance to every individual trying to reach a higher goal.

Description:
Most of the fairy tales I grew up with had a damsel in distress who needed a ‘Prince Charming’ or a ‘Knight in Shinning Armor’ to come save them from the troubles of their lives. I believe that today’s women do not need a prince or a knight to save them. They are independent and driven and have achieved everything that men have.
In the composition the girl is inspired from ‘Rapunzel’ a princess who was know for her telltale flowing golden hair. But we see her in a new light. She has a staircase of possibilities in front of her leading her to where ever she wants to go. If she has the determination and the drive to excel nothing can stop her. The hazy nature of the wilderness is a depiction of how her choices may not always be right and that the path itself is not an easy walk but it will always be hers to embrace.

This painting is a unique stylization of the simple idea of a still life as it transforms the brush strokes into complex relief structures. ‘Roses’ originally made as a gift to my grandmother is a confluence of the traditional and the modern. In this juxtaposition the painting acts as a representation of my relationship with my grandmother.

Description:
This painting pays homage to the body of the work of the great French impressionist Claude Monet and in particular to his set of painting titled ‘Water Lilies’. The work specifically referenced, is the Les Nymphéas collection in Musée de l'Orangerie, France.
The painting is a juxtaposition of the bright yellow & sunny water lilies representing hope & life to the stormy & turbulent waters signifying despair and sadness. The lilies appear to be encroaching the waters slowly indicating that if we have a positive outcome in life we can over come even the greatest difficulties.

I believe that light and darkness are the two facets of the same coin. One cannot exist without the other. Nothing enumerates this philosophy better that the Chinese concept of yin-yang. Within the light there is a root of darkness and in the darkness a hope for light.
This composition is a reference to this idea and plays on the concept of good/ evil or light/ darkness by contrasting different color shades. An angelic figure, which represents all humanity stands with its wings unfolded. The right wing burns with the red sky expounding the dark side of humanity while the left flutters under a cool blue haze elucidating the goodness in all of us. A bright halo shines behind the figure as a reference to those people who achieve a perfect equilibrium in their lives and balance their darkness with the light within.
